If you're looking to nurture a love for music in your 5 or 6-year-old this is the perfect class to begin their musical adventure. Your child's first musical experiences should be filled with discovery, creativity, and boundless fun.
Our Pre-Preparatory Music Class is designed to ignite your child's musical potential in a play-based, informal setting, where curiosity leads the way. With no audition required, we welcome young learners into a nurturing environment where they can explore the magic of music through engaging activities. Our experienced teaching artists guide them to build foundational music skills, fostering creativity and a lifelong love for the art.
Imagine your child moving to the beat, distinguishing between fast and slow, loud and soft, and singing along to delightful songs and rhymes! They'll develop an awareness of fundamental musical concepts like beat, rhythm, and tonality, all while generating their own musical ideas and exploring expressive qualities like dynamics and tempo. Your child will be embarking on an exciting journey of musical exploration, building confidence, and discovering the joy of their own unique voice within a group of their peers.

You will receive a registration email from Brooklyn Youth Chorus. Your registration email will include detailed instructions on completing registration, tuition, financial aid, schedule, and more.

Children who will be ages 5-6 by September 1 of the 2025/26 school year are eligible for our Pre-Preparatory level classes, no audition necessary.

Playful Exploration: Engaging children in fun music and movement activities.
Foundational Concepts: Building awareness of core musical ideas like beat, rhythm, and tonality.
Expressive Discovery: Exploring and experiencing concepts such as melodic contour, dynamics (loud/soft), and tempo (fast/slow).
Creative Expression: Encouraging students to generate their own musical ideas and practice creative expression.
Active Listening: Developing strong listening skills through interactive musical experiences.

Approximately $93 per month over 10 months.*
Tuition covers the full program year and varies by age and program length. Families who pay in full at registration do not pay the $45 installment plan fee.
*Financial aid based on need is available to all qualifying families.

At Brooklyn Youth Chorus, we believe that every child with a passion for singing deserves the opportunity to shine. We understand that families have different financial situations, so we offer a variety of options to make our program accessible to everyone. 100% of our our families receive subsidized tuition, and 35% of families receive additional need-based financial aid.
Our tuition structure includes flexible payment plans, allowing you to pay annually or in manageable monthly installments. More importantly, we have a comprehensive need-based financial aid program and are committed to working with families who need assistance ensuring there are no financial barriers to access. Simply submit a financial aid application, and our team will be happy to help you explore the options that best fit your family's needs. We encourage all interested singers to apply, regardless of their financial circumstances. Finance should never be a barrier to participation.
