JOB DESCRIPTION / OVERVIEW
Brooklyn Youth Chorus seeks Part-Time Voice Teachers with experience teaching young singers (ages 7+) across varying levels of experience and vocal development. Voice teachers will teach private weekly voice lessons for students ages 7+ ranging from 30 to 60 minutes. Lessons take place weekday afternoons, after school (3:30-7:30pm), and on Saturdays (9:30am-4pm) in person at Brooklyn Youth Chorus headquarters. Number of weekly work hours is flexible and depends on student demand and teacher availability. This position reports directly to the Director of Program Operations and will run from September 2025 to June 2026 with the possibility to be renewed for summer sessions (June-August) and future seasons.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE
Variable. After school hours during the week and Saturdays available.
SALARY/RATE OF PAY
Starting at $64/hour
Qualifications (required skills):
Demonstrated expertise in applied voice science and vocal health including: parameters of registration, vowel resonance, and breath management, with an emphasis on head register development for treble singers as well as voice change navigation.
Well versed in vocal pedagogy for classical technique and comfortable teaching CCM styles.
Willingness to learn and align with Founder and Artistic Director, Dianne Berkun Menaker’s, trademarked Cross-Choral Training pedagogy, with the intent to provide a unified approach to vocal teaching at Brooklyn Youth Chorus across private lessons and choral rehearsals.
