Amandla Turner
Conductor

Amandla Turner is a distinguished singer-songwriter from Brooklyn, New York, and an alumna of the renowned Brooklyn Youth Chorus, where she graduated in 2007. Her time with the Chorus was instrumental in refining her musicianship and laying the foundation for her professional career. Amandla continued her musical education at Berklee College of Music, and afterward, she became a prominent performer across New York City’s vibrant music scene.

When the pandemic reshaped the world, Amandla gracefully transitioned into music education, bringing her passion for music to the Maple Street School in Brooklyn, where she has been nurturing young minds for over 12 years. As an early childhood development teacher, she seamlessly weaves music into her daily lessons, believing wholeheartedly in its essential role in children’s development. She also teaches piano at Musication in Brooklyn, inspiring children aged 3 to 12 to find joy and creativity through music. Amandla is deeply fulfilled by passing on the knowledge and skills she gained from the Brooklyn Youth Chorus to the next generation of young musicians.
