For young singers ages 12 and up with changed and changing voices, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus Bass Ensemble offers the ultimate experience in vocal artistry for lower voices. This unique ensemble provides an unparalleled opportunity to delve into the rich world of tenor and bass choral singing.
The Bass Ensemble provides advanced vocal training, meticulously focused on developing healthy, robust technique and significantly expanding vocal range for the low changed and changing voice. Members master challenging and sophisticated repertoire, pushing the boundaries of their musicality. As part of this elite ensemble, singers don't just perform; they collaborate with world-renowned artists and grace prestigious stages alongside their dedicated peers.
The Bass Ensemble boasts a remarkable history of performing and recording with major orchestras and iconic artists, including the New York Philharmonic, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, and John Legend. Their voices have resonated for dignitaries such as Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Recent highlights include the world premiere of Port(al) at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Into the Charmed, Churned, Circle at Snug Harbor during the 2024-25 season. Looking ahead, the 2025-26 season features an exciting performance of the live score of Home Alone with the New York Philharmonic.

The Brooklyn Youth Chorus Bass Ensemble offers a specialized and empowering experience for young bass and baritone singers, and singers with changed voices. This ensemble delves into repertoire that highlights the unique richness and depth of the ensemble’s vocal range. With focused rehearsals, members develop advanced vocal techniques, mastering the nuances of harmony and rhythm essential for lower voices. They tackle challenging and diverse musical selections, building upon the core Brooklyn Youth Chorus curriculum, and perform in a variety of settings. This ensemble fosters a strong sense of camaraderie and musical excellence, preparing young singers to confidently and skillfully contribute to complex choral works. The Bass Ensemble rehearses with the Concert Ensemble (high, treble voices) on a weekly basis to prepare mixed (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) repertoire for projects and performances.

Bass Ensemble - Meets two days a week for 2 hours.
Tuesday from 5:00-7:15PM & Thursday from 5:00-7:00PM (179 Pacific Street)

Approximately $231 per month over 10 months.*
The above monthly includes tuition, as well as the registration fee ($50) and uniform maintenance Fee ($15).Tuition covers the full program year and varies by age and program length. Families who pay in full at registration do not pay the $45 installment plan fee.

Our tuition structure includes flexible payment plans, allowing you to pay annually or in manageable monthly installments. More importantly, we have a comprehensive need-based financial aid program and are committed to working with families who need assistance ensuring there are no financial barriers to access. Simply submit a financial aid application, and our team will be happy to help you explore the options that best fit your family's needs. We encourage all interested singers to apply, regardless of their financial circumstances. Finance should never be a barrier to participation.
