Kristina Vaskys
Conductor

Kristina Vaskys is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, and dancer living in Kensington, Brooklyn. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy at Duquesne University and taught music in New York City independent schools for 20 years. She currently directs the Jalopy Chorus, the choir in residence at the Jalopy Theatre and School of Music.  

Kristina specializes in Eastern European music & dance, particularly from Macedonia and the Balkans. In 2010, she founded the all women Macedonian village ensemble Niva, which sings and plays folk music on traditional instruments. She teaches regularly at Balkan Music & Dance Workshops and Balkanalia, and served on the board of the East European Folklife Center. She has also sung with Accord Treble Choir, Cerddorion Vocal Ensemble, and Uncommon Chord.
