
Elizabeth Sarian
Conductor
Accomplished mezzo-soprano, Elizabeth Sarian, has been a featured artist with opera companies across the United States including The Atlanta Opera, Annapolis Opera, Opera Baltimore, Knoxville Opera, Maryland Opera, Opera North, Opera Roanoke, and Opera Theater of Saint Louis. She is also a proud alumna of Young Artist Programs at Santa Fe Opera and Central City Opera.
In 2022, Elizabeth was a National Semifinalist in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, the winner of the Sandra Warfield Prize, and a National Semifinalist in the Houston Grand Opera Concert of Arias.
As a Voice Instructor, Elizabeth has been teaching private lessons for more than 9 years. She began her training at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where she earned a Master of Music in Voice Performance and Vocal Pedagogy. Since completing her studies, Elizabeth held a Teaching Residency at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, teaching masterclasses and fostering awareness for the operatic and classical careers. She has also held positions as a Voice Instructor with Maestro Musicians in Baltimore, MD, Baltimore School of Music, and was affiliated with the Westchester School of Speech and Drama, where she designed her own Musical Theater Camp for children, in addition to maintaining her own private studio. Her subsequent successes have included preparing students for NYSSMA and acceptance into All County, All State, and All Eastern choruses, private high school and select private choirs.
Elizabeth is a Long Island native, who is fulfilling her greatest passions through teaching and singing. She firmly believes in the universal importance of music and its presence in all our lives and is so excited to be a part of Brooklyn Youth Chorus’s 2025-2026 season.
