Byron De Leon
Conductor
Byron De Leon is a Guatemalan American conductor, baritone, and educator from Brooklyn, New York. He sings with and frequently conducts the Marble Choir at Marble Collegiate Church, and has performed with professional ensembles including Voices of Ascension and Elevation Ensemble. In fall 2026, he began as a conductor with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. De Leon has performed nationally and internationally, most recently competing in Spain’s Tolosa Choral Competition with the Delaware Choral Scholars. The ensemble earned multiple first-place prizes and an invitation to compete in the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing in Maribor, Slovenia. He is also active in the New York chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (NY-ACDA), where he served as Publications Liaison and Advertising Chair for the 2026 Summer Conference. He has served as Conducting Apprentice for the Mendelssohn Chorus of Philadelphia’s 152nd season and as Vocal Coach Coordinator and Student Conductor for the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, where he performed as a section leader and soloist. In 2026, he returned to the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers as a soloist for an Insight Choir session at the ACDA Eastern Region Conference in Providence, RI. De Leon holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance, with a minor in Linguistics, from the Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance.
