Chorus Divisions

When students come to BYCA, they are placed in a training chorus appropriate to their level of musical development and maturity: Preparatory, Junior, or Intermediate. Those who have mastered the necessary advanced skills may become members of the Concert Chorus -- BYCA's senior performing and touring chorus.

Training Choruses

BYCA's training chorus levels are designed to introduce youngsters to the art of singing and choral music. Prior singing experience is not required, although it may be a factor in determining the child's placement in a chorus division.

  • The Preparatory Division, Grades 2-4, meets one day each week.
  • The Junior Chorus, Grades 3-8, meets one day each week.
  • The Intermediate Chorus, Grades 4-9, alternates between one and two days each week.

Concert Chorus

The advanced Concert Chorus ensemble is designed for experienced singers who seek a challenging music program. In addition to group instruction, all Concert Chorus members receive individual instruction with a professional voice specialist.

The Concert Chorus performs in many professional concert productions and contracted engagements. A special highlight of the Concert Chorus program is the opportunity to tour and travel for music festivals, competitions, and exchanges. Annual concert tours have brought the Concert Chorus to the United Kingdom, Russia, Canada, and many regions of the United States.

Boys

"...they are a very special group of young artists: innately musical with an extraordinary rhythmic sense and, most of all, capable of producing a purity of sound that puts them in a class with the angels."
